Rules and Regulations

Mission

MISSION:

The mission of Webb City Youth Cheer is to promote and uphold school spirit, support youth football, develop a sense of teamwork and sportsmanship, and provide a safe and respectful environment in which children can learn, grow, and have fun, while bettering the relationship between our schools and with whom we compete. It is the intention of this organization to allow any child who wants to cheer, the opportunity to participate.

Commitment

COMMITMENT:

As with other sports, cheering requires both TIME and COMMITMENT. Other than school and religious obligations, cheerleading must be a priority. Practices are usually twice a week all WCYC cheerleaders are obligated to attend. WCYC cheers for the Webb City Youth Football games. There are no buses to away games, parents can carpool. The football season begins in August and goes to the end of October, weather permitting.

Squad Selection

SQUAD SELECTION:

Squads will be announced sometime in late July or early August once WCYF has finalized teams,as well as practice times and game schedules. Unfortunately this is out of our control. Information will be posted on our WCYC website and Facebook Page.

Cheerleading Clinic

CHEERLEADING CLINIC:

Dance Clinic is typically held at the end of July, dates and times to be determined by the WCYC Board. All cheerleaders and parents are required to attend the Clinic. The camp will teach basic cheerleading techniques and routines to the new cheerleaders and will review cheers and moves for the returning cheerleaders. The camp will give the cheerleaders prep work to practice at home before the season starts in August. We will be showing warm-ups and stretches as well as strength training to help the cheerleaders learn jumps and stunting that will be needed during the season. The cheerleaders will learn the halftime dance at this camp. The camp will also serve to acquaint all the cheerleaders new and old.

There is no additional cost for camp it is included in your registration fee.

A mandatory parent meeting typically takes place while your cheerleader is participating in clinic.

Fundraising

UNIFORM FUNDRAISING:

Fundraising for WCYC uniforms, poms, shoes and accessories is optional for each cheerleader. If you choose to participate in the fundraisers and do not raise enough money to cover the items you ordered you will be responsible for the remaining balance. Fundraising will be the responsibility primarily of those directly benefiting.

At the time of fundraiser turn in, the money earned toward the uniform will be tallied by the WCYC Board. The total amount of money earned, will be put toward the cheerleaders items. Should the cheerleader have earned money left over, the family will then have the option to purchase WCYC merchandise at the time of uniform fitting. This will be the ONLY time such credit can be put towards purchase of WCYC merchandise. If the cheerleader/family decide not to purchase any additional WCYC merchandise, the remaining money earned will be turned over to WCYC and will not be available for further purchases.

IF FUNDRAISING MONEY IS NOT RETURNED ON THE REQUESTED DUE DATE THEN THE WCYC BOARD HAS THE APPROVAL TO REMOVE CHEERLEADER FROM THE PROGRAM.

Uniform Fitting

UNIFORM FITTING:

Uniform fitting is usually held in June and uniform distribution day will vary from year to year. ALL CHEERLEADERS MUST BE PRESENT FOR THE FITTING FOR NEW UNIFORM.  If you are not present, you will run the risk of not having a properly fitted uniform. Having a uniform fitting so early in the season is necessary, in the event that we have complications. Cheerleaders getting fitted for uniforms need to arrive wearing a tank top and gym shorts to make it easy for fitting.

Returning cheerleaders that need to purchase all/part of a uniform can resell their old uniform.

Pictures

PICTURE DAY:

There will be a date set for individual and team pictures. All girls are required to be there for team pictures and purchasing is optional. This date is usually in September. The cheerleaders will be notified ahead of time. Purchase forms will be available onsite to be completed and returned with payment on the day of picture.
